Tell the Mon. County leaders to let teachers hang Pride flags!
Keeping our students safe and healthy at school should not be political. The decision to take down several Pride flags at Morgantown High School is unacceptable. An administrator at Monongalia County schools sent a letter to every principal in the county about the upcoming election, and this letter apparently sparked the removal of the flags. The letter reminded teachers to keep their personal political views out of the classroom, and it encouraged them to be mindful of the “unintended influence” they might have on students.
Keeping politics out of the classroom is a worthwhile goal, but our students’ identities are not political. Use the tool below to email members of the Monongalia County Board of Education. Tell them to support LGBTQ students and allow teachers to re-hang their flags.
